during the time of the Middle Ages when the Muslims took over Spain. There was
competition between the Arabs and the Jews. They both began to write holy songs
and
פיוטים. But during
this time the Jews had it good in Spain and it was known as the Golden Age (הזהב
טור).
רוח
שפל is also said
on the 2nd day of Rosh Hashana.

Someone who is humble and
ענו
will be rewarded and get a blessing. The writer says I will be
ענו spiritually
and physically I will bow down to you and be humble.

� I am bringing
myself closer to G-d through fear. Today we bring ourselves close to G-d through
תפילה.
אקדמך =
להתפלל but according
to
מיכא,
this does not only refer to praying it also refers to giving Korbanot.
This first line is a
יחוד
משפט
and the author does this in order to stress his message of making ourselves low,
physically and spiritually and serving hashem. He also uses
הפתיחה
תפארת to get the
attention of the readers.
2nd Line:

� He says I am
coming before you Hashem, I am the
משורר
and I am like a worm. I�m coming to you humbly and with fear. Who am I in front
of you? I�m nobody, I�m like nothing, I�m like the worm in the ground!
3rd Line:

הכמוני
לגדלו
קץ
אין
אשר
עולם
מלא�
� Hashem fills
the entire world and there is no end to his greatness. G-d isn�t like a worm (תולעת), he is big
and there is no end to him. But I�m like a
worm and how do I even dare pray to you (Hashem)? How do humans have the
nerve to turn to G-d and pray to him, we are so small and insignificant!
4th Line:
�רום
מלאכי
יכילון
לא
הדרך�
� Even the
angels in the sky cant understand Hashem�s greatness! So how can a simple human
being even begin to comprehend what you are?!
5th Line:
Why do we even pray? Because you are the G-d that does good for me, and does
Chesed for me even though I am like a worm in the ground. And with all my
Neshama, I want to thank you for everything you�ve done for me and praise you
for your chesed.
