SHORT SUMMARY
אני
האיש
is a shir chol that was written by Shlomo Eben Gavriel. In this
shir he writes about a man who searches for
חכמה. This man
נידר

from the days of his childhood saying that he would never give
up his search for knowledge until he finally discovers it.
Sometimes כור
הזמן
 or the
גורל tries to delay your goal but he says that even though its hard work
and something that seems so unattainable he still thinks its worth it sometimes
to work hard even though theres a chance that this building you built might
come crashing down. We need to understand that in our lives there will always be
obstacles but we cannot stop fighting and trying to reach our goals. Of course
it would be much easier to get whatever you want without trying, but in life
there is no such thing as getting things easy. And there no such thing as life
without problems.
For everything you want in
life you have to pay a price, including knowledge. It is written

הזמן

there will come a time when all of
us will need to pay for what we wanted and got in life. But we shall not become
weak because we nee to do what we want with strength and determination.
In the second part of the
שיר the man has a
dream. They say that this dream occurred while he was sleeping because after the
dream he wakes up. But some also say that this is not a real dream but a
metaphorical one and he was not really sleeping.
The DREAM: He sees the skies שרק and סהר
this refers to the moon which is not full. And the skies were clear without a
single cloud, נקי
כץ
.
This symbolizes that they were clean of their sins and clouds. The moon was טהר

that taught אני

 the
knowledge with the help of the rays of the sun. The man is scared that someone
will call the moon תלאות, just like a
father who worries about his son and makes choices for him. All of a sudden
there is a strong wind that brings clouds that cover up the moon, as if there is
dirt on the moon, just like he is mourning. The man then describes the moon as a
man who wants the rain to come. The skies become dark and black and this is as
if the moon has died and the clouds are the grave. Then there was fog and then
came the thunder, it was as if the thunder was mocking at the sky. The man
describes the thunder, its like an
עטלף (bird) that
spreads its wings over the entire sky. The moon can symbolize knowledge on its
own but it can also symbolize
יקותיאל, his
נדיב that gave the
משורר
money in order to learn. But instead of letting him learn they put him in jail
and they couldnt give him money to learn anymore. Just like the clouds that
came and covered the moon and didnt allow the light to come through and show
him the correct way and the right path to reach the knowledge he wants to
attain.
The man awakens because G-d closed all his thoughts. This was as if
there were ropes of darkness tied around his heart that did not let him think.
But on the other hand, his heart wanted to break through. He had no hope and all
the light from the moon changed into darkness and this was as if the clouds were
jealous of the man and did not want him to see the light of the moon. But the
man continues to wait to see the light because he will be happy like a worker
who is happy when his boss gives him his paycheck. The man understands that one
cannot fight nature and the way things work because man is not strong enough and
the only way to see knowledge is only through G-d. And you must go to the beit
hamikdash and show belief in G-d and pray to Him and trust Him in order to see
true knowledge and in order to see the light.
