Navi Yeshayahu 40-41

End of perek mem and mem alef

Waiting for God will renew their strength

v  What is the question and answer in this part?

  Where is God?

Have belief (why doesnt he save us?)

God doesnt have strength to see us in trouble

Believe that god is without mishpat. He gave inappropriate punishment for the sin.

Dont have belief (god doesnt exist)

You feel that he doesnt see you because he doesnt save you

Created the ends of the world- impossible to go

Doesnt get tired- answer to saying he doesnt have strength

No end to his understanding- answer to there is no justice

He gives power and strength to the weak

  No hope

Even the soldiers in war will be tired and weak, and the soldiers will fall

If you dont believe in god, he will not help you

  Hope

If there is hope in god, their strength will be renewed, hey will go up with wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired, they will walk and not be tired

If you believe in god, he will help you

The conqueror from the east

v  Who is the conqueror/winner that came from the east

Persia (with Koresh/Cyrus, the ruler) were the conquerors coming from the east and warred with Babel and bnei yisroel went from exile to Israel

If someone just promises and doesnt do it, we know he is a bluffer so now we get to the action

Who was around from the east river?; everywhere he went he did righteousness, and all the goyim gave themselves to him.

The swords of the soldiers of Koresh were like afar- cant count. When throw an arrow the bows look like a straw of wheat.

Chase after the enemies and pass over in peace; he doesnt go the way with his feet

Who caused Koresh to succeed? Who caused all this to happen? Someone who knows the future can tell you whats going to happen in the generation from the begining; I am god the 1st and last at same time (out of the time frame- Chutz mmisgerach zeman)

All the Goyim getting ready for war

v  Dont really have to know this part- just look at 6

5 The isles saw, and feared; the ends of the earth trembled; they drew near, and came.

6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother: 'Be of good courage.'

ז  וַיְחַזֵּק חָרָשׁ אֶת-צֹרֵף, מַחֲלִיק פַּטִּישׁ אֶת-הוֹלֶם פָּעַם; אֹמֵר לַדֶּבֶק טוֹב הוּא, וַיְחַזְּקֵהוּ בְמַסְמְרִים לֹא יִמּוֹט.  {ס}

7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering: 'It is good'; and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved. {S}

God helps us to overcome our enemies

v  Write in specific words how god will help bnei yisroel in the exile
